I am not a member of any association. Can I still become COREN registered?

Expatriates are allowed to register consulting firms with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria but only with partnership with a registered Nigerian engineer.
In such a partnership, the Nigerian engineer must be the major shareholder with at least 55% of the total shares.

I am an expatriate. Can I register a consulting firm?

Been a member of COREN approved professional associations in Nigeria such as the NATE, NAEC, NSE, NISET or abroad such as Engineering Council(UK), CCPE(Canada), NCEES(USA), and IET presents a path to becoming COREN registered.
An alternative path involves writing a professional examination.

Who can propose me to the Council?

You would require two (2) registry proposers to recommend you to the Council.
Both persons must be registered members of COREN and additionally must be up to date with their payments.
A person can only propose four (4) candidates to the Council in each calendar year thus it is important you contact your intended proposer(s) but also confirm they are eligible.

I hve lost the original copies of my credentials. What alternatives do I have?

If you have lost originals of your credentials, you would be required to produce support documents which includes; Extract from the police on the lost credential, sworn affidavit from a court, attestation letter from the issuer of the credential, and convocation list, if applicable.

What are the least qualifications into the engineering cadres?

The entry qualifications for the engineering cadres are as follows; For engineers, A bachelors degree in an accredited Nigerian university or a higher national diploma from an accredited polytechnic/monotechnic alongside a post graduate diploma. For technologists, a higher national diploma from an accredited polytechnic/montechnic. For technicians, an ordinary national diploma from an accredited polytechnic/monotechnic or a full technological certificate.
Finally a craftsman requires a West African Examination Council Certificate or its equivalent, or a technical NABTEB trade test.
